SPECIAL INTERESTS
As a neurosurgeon and spinal surgeon Mr Demetriades deals with patients who have brain and spine problems.
These include brain tumours, haemorrhage, hydrocephalus, Chiari malformations and facial pain (trigeminal neuralgia).
A particular interest of Mr Demetriades' routine practice is Trigeminal Neuralgia (facial pain), and he has set up and has been running a Trigeminal Neuralgia Clinic as part of his NHS practice. Both non-surgical or minimally invasive procedures can provide excellent pain relief, and this is tailored to the individual patient.
A special interest of his is the spine, having received further specialised training in both simple and complex spinal procedures as well as minimally invasive spine surgery. His aim is to treat these conditions non-operatively as far as possible, but when necessary to provide the latest and most advanced surgical expertise. To this effect he has supplemented his training with post-specialisation fellowships in both neurosurgical and orthopaedic centres, both in the UK and abroad, thus obtaining a unique perspective on treatment options and techniques.
