About Dr Matthew Oliver
Mr Matthew Oliver is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon. His main interests are disorders of the hip, knee and hand.
Mr Oliver qualified from St Georges Hospital Medical School in 1998, undertaking his Basic Surgical Training at various hospitals in Kent. He then embarked on a year of Academic Medicine, carrying out basic science and clinical studies with a focus on degenerative disorders of the adult knee joint. Following this he joined the renowned South East Thames Higher Surgical Training Rotation in Orthopaedics (2004 to 2010) and passed the FRCS (Tr&Orth) in 2009. That same year, he was privileged in being selected to attend an intensive one-year Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at the University of Calgary in Canada. Following his return in 2010, he was appointed as a full time Consultant at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr Oliver is also interested in Medical Education, actively contributing locally and regionally. He is also a member of his NHS Trust Trauma Board and is actively involved in improving trauma care for patients in South East London, Kent and Medway (SELKaM Trauma Network).

Dr Oliver’s care was second to none. From my first consultation where, for the first time I felt heard and understood, to post op when he came to see me and was so kind and encouraging. He explained everything fully and simply and took away any concerns I had. My situation was slightly complicated by another injury. Dr Oliver completely appreciated this and advised me on the best course of action, and communicated with a colleague on my behalf to smooth the process and to save any delay to my surgery. I could not recommend Dr Oliver more highly!

Mr. Oliver has a reassuring and very pleasant manner. He explains the procedure clearly and exudes competence which puts one at ease.

Mr. Oliver could not have done better than he did. He is an excellent communicator and shows genuine concern for his patients. I felt that my care was uppermost in his mind. I am. very grateful for his skills and personal care.
