Mr Frank Agada

Mr Frank Agada is a highly experienced Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) and Head and Neck Surgeon, currently practising at The Duchy Hospital in Harrogate and York Teaching Hospital, where he also holds an honorary consultant position at Harrogate District Hospital. At The Duchy Hospital, he specialises in a wide range of ENT conditions and head and neck surgeries, including managing sinus disorders, vocal cord issues, hearing difficulties, and dysphagia. At York Teaching Hospital, he is actively involved in both clinical practice and training, contributing to the development of future specialists. His nearly two decades of experience in the field make him a trusted expert in delivering comprehensive and patient-centred care.

Mr Agada completed his medical degree (MBBS) in Nigeria in 1990. He pursued higher surgical training in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at the Yorkshire Deanery from 2004 to 2010, where he developed his expertise in complex ENT procedures. To further advance his skills, he completed a fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA, and gained significant clinical experience at New York Hospitals. His international training has greatly influenced his approach to delivering specialised and high-quality care.

Mr Agada holds multiple qualifications, including MBBS, DLO, FRCS Ed (Surg. Gen), and FRCS Ed (ORL-HNS). He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a member of the British Association of Thyroid and Endocrine Surgeons. His professional development also includes significant contributions to research and teaching. As the College Tutor for ENT in York since 2012, he plays an important role in training the next generation of ENT specialists. He has been a faculty member on the FRSCS Bradford course and is well-regarded for his commitment to education. He is an active researcher with over 35 peer-reviewed publications and has authored chapters in four medical textbooks, with a focus on head and neck cancer and otolaryngology.

In his clinical practice, Mr Agada manages a comprehensive range of ENT and head and neck conditions. His expertise includes managing head and neck lumps, thyroid swellings, salivary gland lumps, and swallowing disorders. He provides treatment for parathyroid issues, performs tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, grommet insertion for glue ear, and nasal cautery for nosebleeds. He is experienced in treating sinusitis, performing sinus surgery, and addressing nasal problems such as a blocked nose, deviated septum, polyps, and septal perforation. Additionally, he treats snoring, hearing loss, tinnitus, dizziness, and changes in voice, including the feeling of a lump in the throat.

Mr Agada’s clinical interests extend to thyroid and parathyroid conditions, head and neck surgery, general ENT, and managing nasal symptoms. His patient-centred approach ensures that he tailors treatments to each individual’s needs, prioritising evidence-based practices and effective outcomes.

At York Teaching Hospital, Mr Agada takes on a leadership role in clinical training and has been instrumental in mentoring junior doctors and specialists. He actively participates in professional development activities and regularly shares his insights through lectures and training sessions. His role as a consultant at The Duchy Hospital involves leading treatments for various ENT issues, ensuring that patients receive top-quality care with the most advanced techniques available.
