Are you Amal Hassan?
Dr Amal Hassan is a Sport & Exercise Medicine Consultant with a specialist interest in female athlete health. She is experienced in overseeing the diagnosis and management of soft tissue injuries and musculoskeletal pain, and has a thorough approach which suits both acute and chronic presentations.
Dr Hassan is considered an expert in the care of athletic pregnancies and postnatal return to sport & exercise, and is also experienced in overseeing the diagnosis and management of relative energy deficiency in sport (RED-S), menstrual cycle disorders in athletes and of injuries in dancers.
Dr Hassan gained her medical qualification from the University of Bristol in 2010, where she undertook an intercalated degree in Bioethics. She has been a clinical lecturer on the Sport & Exercise Medicine MSc at University College London, serving as clinical module lead for both the lower and upper limb sports injury modules. She is actively involved in research projects that focus on women's and female athlete health. She is presently also working at the Royal Ballet School, White Lodge, as a designated Sports Physician, and at Harlequins Rugby Club as the Women's Team doctor.
Dr Hassan's current research topics include investigation of the physical activity behaviours of women undergoing fertility treatment and of the physical activity advice they receive from clinicians; the impact of exercise behaviours on fertility outcomes, and, investigation of the significance of pelvic floor symptoms for lower limb injury risk.
Dr Hassan is a caring and holistic practitioner with strong communication skills and attention to detail, which she believes to be the foundation of clinical care.

RED-S; relative energy deficiency in sport; amenorrhoea; hypothalamic amenorrhoea; exercise addiction; exercise compulsion; overtraining; bone stress injury; stress fracture; hypermobility; exercise in pregnancy; postnatal return to exercise; postnatal rehab; long-COVID; post-COVID syndrome; dance medicine; soft-tissue injury; perimenopause; menopause; exercise prescription; exercise testing; adolescent sports medicine.
